Liquid Gastric Support

Slimer's bioavailable, research backed ingredients are shown to help preserve and protect gastric tissue throughout the squamous and glandular regions of the stomach.

High molecular weight hyaluronic acid combined with beta glucan, a soluble fiber with a mucilage consistency, display gastroprotective properties that create a viscous slime coating throughout the stomach to help protect gastric mucosa. Marshmallow root, slippery elm and deglycyrrized licorice root also coat and protect the stomach, and provide mucosal-soothing and antioxidant effects reducing oxidative stress.

Slimer can be fed daily by top dressing your horse's feed or can be dosed via syringe prior to specific events such as competitions or travel.

How does Slimer compare to other liquid gastric supplements?

Other liquid gastric supplements are usually a combination of hyaluronic acid and beta glucan. Slimer contains higher levels of these active ingredients than other products and the addition of mucosal soothing ingredients like slippery elm, marshmallow root, and licorice root.  As a result, Slimer's high molecular weight hyaluronic acid combined with these other ingredients results in a thicker and more effective product that creates a barrier against acid to protect the squamous and glandular regions of the stomach.

What is the difference between Slimer and Sucralfate?

Sucralfate is a drug that adheres specifically to ulcerated tissue to form a coating that protects the damaged mucosa from gastric acid and helps heal lesions. Slimer is a combination of all natural ingredients that forms a viscous coating over the entirety of the stomach (not specifically to damaged mucosa), which is designed to protect the mucosa from gastric acid for shorter periods of time.

What is the difference between Slimer and Omeprazole?

Omeprazole is a drug designed to completely eliminate the production of gastric acid. Slimer is all natural and will create a temporary slime coating throughout the stomach, but does not eliminate the production of gastric acid.

Do I have to give Slimer every day for it to be effective?

Slimer is most effective when used daily as part of a comprehensive gastric maintenance program.  But Slimer is still effective even if it is used temporarily during times when your horse is unable to forage, or engaged in stressful activities.

Is Slimer still effective if I can only feed it once per day? Can I give the full dose in that one feeding?

As with most gastric supplements, Slimer is most effective when given twice per day to spread out its gastric soothing benefits, but is still effective even if used once a day.

What does Slimer smell/taste like? Is it picky eater approved?

Slimer smells and tastes like black cherry and is picky eater approved!

Since Slimer has hyaluronic acid can it also be used as a joint supplement?

Yes. Slimer has more high molecular weight hyaluronic acid than most other joint supplements and it will absolutely benefit your horse's joints.  The reason Slimer isn't marketed as a joint supplement is because it is not a 'complete' soft tissue support supplement like Arthroscope, which contains the traditional building blocks of joint health (including high molecular weight HA) in addition to other potent anti-inflammatories.

How is Slimer different than Ulceraser?

Slimer is a liquid supplement designed to coat the squamous and glandular portions of the stomach to help protect the sensitive mucosa from splashing gastric acid during times that horses are most at risk for ulcers. Ulceraser is forage based, designed to increase the strength of gastric mucosa, increase circulation and help heal lesions, act as a sand clear, and encourages digestion in the foregut rather than the hindgut to help prevent the release of volatile fatty acids that can contribute to hindgut ulcers.

Can Slimer be used with Ulceraser?

Yes! Slimer is designed to coat the stomach for short period of times when acid splashing in the stomach is most likely to contribute to discomfort and cause ulcers (i.e. when riding, traveling, or unable to forage). This is an added layer of protection in addition to Ulceraser’s daily gastric benefits. In fact, all of our products are designed to be used together!

Do you offer farm incentive programs?

Yes.  For barns buying in bulk please email us at [email protected] to discuss eligibility and incentive structure.

Where do you ship from?

All orders ship from our warehouse in Wellington, FL.

Do you have sales or promo codes?

No. We do not have sales or promo codes because we offer the highest quality product at the lowest possible price year round.

Do you have sample sizes of the supplements?

No.  The reason we do not have sample sizes is because the average time frame for seeing an improvement is generally 2-3 weeks so for people wanting to sample the products we suggest starting with the 30 day supply.

Testimonials
As a large coaching and competition stable, keeping mine and my clients horses comfortable and performing at their best is my top priority.

"Equine Elixirs’ Slimer has been a game-changer for us. I’ve seen a noticeable improvement in my horses’ comfort, focus and overall demeanor during competitions as well as at home. It’s clear that Slimer helps promote a healthy stomach environment and preserve the gastric tissue even in high-pressure environments. The natural ingredients give me peace of mind knowing I’m providing my horses with something safe and effective across national and FEI."

The Slimer has been extremely beneficial for one of my nervous horses.

"The Slimer has been extremely beneficial for one of my nervous horses. Within just a few weeks I noticed he was way more relaxed and confident at home and when competing! The Slimer has completely replaced the sucralfate that he needed in the past. "

I use Slimer before riding on specific horses we know or suspect have ulcer issues and am pleased with the results.

"I use Slimer before riding on specific horses we know or suspect have ulcer issues and am pleased with the results. I definitely see less reactivity under saddle and in the barn during the untacking and grooming process. I personally use the components of this product in a human supplement, so I know it works!"

I used Slimer on a horse that is typically sullen and very behind the leg. You can tell he is uncomfortable when he starts swapping leads for no reason.

"I used Slimer on a horse that is typically sullen and very behind the leg. You can tell he is uncomfortable when he starts swapping leads for no reason. I noticed an immediate difference after the first dose of Slimer, which was given 5-10 minutes before riding. He was more forward and didn't do any lead swapping from discomfort. He gets it before every ride and Slimer definitely works to keep him comfortable."
